Susana F. Hamilton is an experienced litigator and counselor. She is a knowledgeable and well-rounded attorney having represented clients in many stages of business, family, and personal injury laws. Prior to forming Hamilton Law, Susana was an Intellectual Property Paralegal for a fortune 500 company and worked as a corporate paralegal for several start-ups. She also has a background in education having worked for the college school district for almost 10 years.

Susana is a graduate of Lincoln Law School, Santa Clara University Law School, San Jose State University, and Evergreen College. She has a JD, BA, AA, and Paralegal Certification.

Susana speaks and understands conversational Portuguese. She is a member of the California State Bar, the Santa Clara Trial Lawyers Association and Northern Federal District.

Susana was born in Portugal and raised in New England. Since 1985, she has called San Jose, California her home, a home she now shares with her husband Scott. Both are staunch animal lovers. “We adopted three rescue Boris and Natasha cats and Chaucer, the law office resident “legal beagle.” Susana teaches law to paralegals at Heald Business College. She believes, “one of the best things about being an attorney is being able to turn around and give a helping hand to those just starting out in the field.” Because she had a great career as a paralegal she is pleased to be part of educating the next wave of excellent paralegals. On her time off, Susana enjoys traveling, music, walking her dog, concerts and as much family time as possible. Susana has a big family in California and in Portugal and a big extended family in Ohio. Susana approaches life with humor, patience, compassion, and hard work. She is a recent breast cancer survivor (diagnosed and successfully treated in 2010/2011). Nothing matters more to her than the support of her husband, family, close friends, business colleagues, and wonderful clients. When you’ve faced the health challenges she has, you realize life is indeed too short and precious to waste worrying about needless things, and to the extent that is prudent she avoids frivolous adversarial approaches in favor of problem-solving ones.
